“Professional monster slayers don’t fall for scams” Watch out for phony Witcher 4 beta test invites, CD Projekt warns fans

If you’ve suddenly recieved an invite to a beta test for The Witcher 4 and have been telling all of your mates about it, I’ve got bad news. CD Projekt has just warned fans about a beta test scam that’s going around, with folks being offered phony opportunities to play the game early.

Hey, we get why you might want to believe such a thing was the real deal, even if it clearly didn’t come from the studio – we’re keen not to have to wait ages to play Ciri’s witchering adventure too. But you’ve gotta be smart – as a wise fella once said, check yourself before you wreck yourself.

“Recently, we’ve been getting reports from some community members that they’ve been invited to a beta test of The Witcher 4 — this is a scam,” CD Projekt tweeted from the game’s official account, “We’ve been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down.

“That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using. Remember: professional monster slayers don’t fall for scams; they see right through them and slay them!”

It finished by adding: “Should we ever organize any beta tests in the future, you will hear about it first, as always, via our official social media and websites.” There you go. That’s us all told.

Say ‘no, thank you, I’m all good’. Yeah, they might moan a bit, but viruses are a thing, even if you’re taking precautions like using an incognito tab. Just ask your dad.

Got it? Good. Now go read more Witcher-related news instead of accidentally falling for something dodgy.
